Two CSA Violations Coded Into CSA Profiles

csa violations

Under the new hours rules, carriers will want to login to their Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) profiles to see two new CSA violations that have been coded in.

The first coded violation is of the 30-minute break requirement of the new hours of service rule. This violation carries a 7-point severity weight contributing to the Hours of Service Compliance Behavioral Analysis and Safety Improvement Category.

The second coded violation is related to alcohol possession. This new violation carries a 3-point severity weight contributing to the Controlled Substances/Alcohol BASIC measures, which enables roadside inspectors to distinguish between alcohol possession and alcohol use. This 3-point weighting is lower than the 5-point rating given for the use/under the influence violation and was added based on “industry and law enforcement feedback” according to the FMCSA.
